Update Preferences with The Direct Marketing Association

  • Sharebar

The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) is an organization of various companies that promote their businesses through direct marketing. You can stop a great deal of mail by letting the DMA know your preferences.

To set up your preferences you’ll first need to set up an account at www.DMAchoice.org.

Once your account is set up there are four categories in which you can manage your mail. One thing to keep in mind is that if you have already made a purchase from a company or donated to an organization you are considered a customer. In these situation you will need to contact these mailers separately. The DMA makes this easier by providing contact information for many of these mailers.

  1. Credit offers — this will bring you directly to the Opt Out Prescreen website. If you’ve already eliminated junk mail from credit reporting agencies then you are one step ahead.
  2. Catalogs — you can choose to stop all catalogs or choose the ones you no longer wish to receive.
  3. Magazine offers — you can choose to remove your name from lists that publishers use to find new subscribers or just from individual magazines. If you already subscribe to a particular magazine you will need to contact the publisher directly. Specific magazine contact information can be obtained on the DMAchoice website.
  4. Other mail offers — this section includes items such as donation requests, bank offers and retail promotions. You choose to stop all other mail offers or individual offers.

The Direct Marketing Association is behind a lot of the junk mail you receive. Set up your account today and get your preferences set!
